Many years ago, we were not fortunate to be exposed to news as it happened and we relied on printed material. Sometimes news never reached us for many days or weeks after the incident had actually happened. Time was when LIVE TELEVISION did not exist.

Today, news comes to us as it happens. Modern Technology has made it possible.

Using all the exciting instruments like High Definition Cameras, Microphones, and Mobile equipment, the Media is expected to Entertain, Educate and Inform the public in an honest and ethical way and play a very important part in the culture of a country.

Now the media is so much on the ball that they can tell us in advance what the President will say in his address to the Nation even before the event. When they do this, there is no real need for us to tune in to the actual live Broadcast other than to see the attitudes of some of the people who represent us in our Government and how they express thier objection to what the President says.

The Media is either “Jumping the Gun” or “Missing the Ball”, too often falling short of their service to the public..

Should we be more attentive instead of being so gullible while we digest all the sensationalistic and some times, misleading garbage they feed us.

In March, 2015, a Jet Plane was lost in the Mountains in France. Reportedly it took 150 lives . It was later established to be a fact. Even a month later and on going , they are still bringing us this story supported by photos of the wreckage, and the house where the Co-Pilot lived in Germany.

Any loss of life is painful. It is one too many. We hope it never happens.

The Media will flash back to the loss in 2014 of another Jet Plane which took more than 200 lives.

Here is where the Media fails every time. They tell us about a plane crash but they do not tell us about the relative facts.

Every year in the United States Of America, approximately 5000 PEDESTRIANS die because of road accidents.

Every year, 25,000 to 30.000 people in the United states die in automobile accidents.Yes twenty five thousand.

Every year, more than 1000 people in the U.S A. die in accidents caused by other people driving the wrong way on our roadways.

It was estimated that in the year 2013, more than 35000 people died in U.S.A. from road accidents. There were more than 3.8 million crash injuries requiring medical attention.

The way that the Media hypes a plane crash makes many people shudder and even say that they will never fly again.

But they do not hesitate to jump in their high powered autos which, clearly, they have not been trained to operate and cannot control.

Some of these people are under the influence of alcohol, Narcotics, drinking while driving, using the Mobile Phone and worse, Texting while driving.

Some are driving without a proper permit or Insurance.

Some drivers are discourteous and have no regard for others using the roadways.

They slam into other vehicles , Trees , Poles, Motorcycles, Pedestrians. They kill, they disable, they disrupt complete families.

Some are just innocent people wanting to get from one place to another, as drivers staying within the LAW, or as passengers. Many innocent ones suffer.

The Automobile Industry has been moving forward to improve the safety factor of thier product.

Many Cities and States have made the roadways safer.

The Insurance Companies have capitalized on the 3.8 million Road accidents every year and constantly inflate the premiums of those people who survive.

The Media does not bring to the forefront the fact that this is a major problem in the U.S.A.

Should the public not be aware of the things that affect us ?

The Media goes into details about the cockpit door on the Jet Plane and the Aviation regulations and the mental state of the pilot of an an Aircraft. A tragedy, yes, but how can we neglect gravity of the loss of life on our roads.

Why can we not start looking at reasons why so many people perish on our road ways?

Why are we not looking for solutions?

Taking A Walk

I do not enjoy walking in my neighborhood because there are no sidewalks. You always wonder when some driver, texting while he or she drives, will drive over you and not even know it.

“That is how you were destined to go”. That’s what some of my friends would say. But I think that with a little fore thought, I may be able to avoid that one. We cannot live for ever. We cannot avoid it for ever but we can be careful because no one else cares for us.

So I go to one of those large stores where other people walk in doors for exercise.

The good thing here is that you can browse through all the wonderful merchandise while you get some of your exercise.

You must remember that you are not there to shop. But have you noticed, they put all the things they want you to buy at eye level. The items you may want are on a lower shelf near to the floor or so high up that you cannot reach. Do they want to trap you ?

If at some time you need assistance, maybe you want to ask a question, if you find an associate, you would be lucky if he or she does not have to refer you to a Manager. You could have found that manager yourself. Many of the associates are ‘TEMPS’ or they do not know or just do not care.

While browsing you see such peculiar behavior of people.

A man stood near the rack of men’s belts. He had taken his belt from around his waist and proceeded to put on a new one which he selected from the rack. Loop by loop he even buckled it up.

It was at that point that wondered what else he was stealing beside the belt. It had to be something which he could conceal because at this store there is a person who checks your purchases against the list on your cashier’s receipt as you exit.

I do not go to that store very often. It is not as exciting as the other one not far away.

There is something about this one which attracts so many people. Could it be just the name of the store. Be careful how you shop here. Very often the items you purchase may not be quite the quality you expected or sometimes things do not work. So you make another trip to get more exercise or just to return or exchange what ever.

Remember, you are here to browse. so you walk pass an aisle where all the meats are displayed. All those open freezers with all the nice meats etc. Could be that the freezers are uncovered so it makes it easier for you to get your stuff out. Maybe it is part of the temperature control of the entire space. And there is a lot of space here.

Perched on top of one of the freezer cabinets is what looks like a teen age boy, his posterior over the food. Why is he allowed to do that ? Now this alarmed me because I was not used to that behavior. My culture and upbringing was not like that.

Standing near by were three women. I said, not to any one in particular, “why don’t you get him off the food that we have to eat?” One of these nice looking ladies identifies her self for what she really is and instead of addressing the young slob, turns to me and verbally attacks me. If she had got physical, I would have ran clear out of that store.

Along comes an “associate”, I recognize him because he is wearing the Company Vest.

For him it is a joke. He says nothing, does nothing other than smile and walks away.

As I said before, some Associates just do not care.

I moved away from that Aisle, wishing I had my Camera.

An infant, Poor Baby, helpless because at that age we are dependent on our parents. Hopefully the parents are mature adults. We have all been that age and we have all been dependent.

Now this is not a rear occurrence. All you have to do is be aware and admit that what you are seeing is real.

Remembering that the fathers are often not present, it would be the mothers pushing cart around while she shops.

Have you noticed that they usually totally ignore those poor, helpless, dependent babies as they frantically cry and scream ?

Any time a Baby cries, there is some thing wrong. It should be addressed.

These mothers are so engrossed in their mission, shopping, that they pay no attention to the child. Some tucking propery of the store under the baby seat.

Occasionally a mother may check to see where the stench is coming from. She may ignore it or take time out to go to the Restroom. She probably realizes that she too really has to go.

Why are some of these poor helpless children screaming and “throwing tantrums”.

Is it possible that some Babies are born “Dope Addicts” ? We know it to be so. Please do not tell me that I should not say that.

The Mothers, you see them, Pregnant and ready to bring another young one into this society. They are still smoking who knows what. That alone is enough to damage the brains of the unborn. Do not tell me how good it is for your “Sinuses”

Many mothers and fathers today are sniffing, snorting, drinking, injecting. These are the ones who support sick rich ones.

They do not learn. Even when the ones up there who they idolize do crazy things and die at a young age try to teach them by example. Look up there and see that most of the Idols do not spend long periods in jail. They can afford to go to rehab at some exotic resort.

But you are sure to see that included in her mission she buys the latest CD or Movie which features the favorite Idol Artist. The same ones who are getting rich while the man or woman ignores her sick Baby.

When the system catches up with that crying baby, the “law” dictates that the baby becomes the property of the State and the mother probably spends time in jail.

The Jail is the establishment which we, the Tax payers pay for, the place where the careless mother will not be “rehabilitated. It is not a Resort.

Don’t you dare say anything to that “mother” as you walk by.

” Just walk on by”.

Mother’s Day

WE SHOULD MAKE EVERY DAY “MOTHER’S DAY”

Mothers are the most precious people in the world.

Through the years I came to the ultimate conclusion that we should all make every day “MOTHER’S DAY”

Most Mothers acquire a special tenderness only by bonding with their babies.

This usually changes the personality of the woman and in most cases this new understanding extends far beyond.

Talking about our mother, she was born in New York City. As a young girl she and her mother traveled to Barbados and settled there. My brother , sisters and I were born there after she married to our father. He was born in British Guiana, now known as Guyana. He also chose to settle in Barbados.

Our mother was totally committed to her family and had no time for gossip and trouble making.

The early days were not very easy. Washing machines , Fridges, and Telephones were luxuries. Yet she managed. Some days she went to the Market for fresh produce to prepare the day’s meal. Other days we walked to the beach and waited for the small boats to land fresh fish. We enjoyed going with her.

At home , she did the cooking, the cleaning , the laundry, and she made sure that we always went to school clean and with lunch every school day.

She baked fresh breads and cakes and found time to do needle work, knitting and crochet as her hobbies. There was no Television. It did not exist in Barbados at that time.

As we grew up and demanded less of her time , she spent many evenings at the Girls Industrial Union where she taught young girls the art of cake making and cake decorating, knitting and crochet. She must have been responsible for molding the futures of many young women in Barbados.

In her later years she traveled to The United States of America on many occasions, enjoying the city, the train rides, long trips to Atlantic City and all that she deserved.

In Barbados she enjoyed Bathsheba, The Crane Beach, Silver Sands and of course Bridgetown.

She loved nature, plants, flowers, roses, and above all, she loved her church and people.

 Human Relations

Let us think of children. We have brothers and sisters and childhood friends. These are all relationships. Yet as time goes by, in many cases , we drift apart and even sever some of these relations. We place little or no value. In our life span we encounter new and varied relationships.

Why do we allow this to happen? After all, time is short and the lease of life which we are given on this earth is limited. ????

What is remarkable? The fact that embedded in our memories is that trace of each of these relationships.. In our memories the highlights, positive or negative never seem to go away. We never really forget.

The complexity of a personality does not lie completely in genetics. We begin to see differences in the personalities of small children born of the same parents even in the early months of their lives.

What we should observe is the environment and the things a child hears and sees and how these factors influence the maturing process.

Think what would happen to a baby if removed from all relationships at birth and placed in total isolation even from the mother. There would be no intelligence and nothing to remember. What a terrible thought ?????? Yet, we who are so fortunate to have this very vital connection with our mothers and others from birth, place little or no value on relationships. Some of us go to extremes to sever them.

Before we define relationships we must understand that we are discussing “HUMAN RELATIONSHIP” and the way people interact.

We could talk about relationships in the work place, in the home, on public transport, or anywhere where people exist. This about the way people interact.

What seems to stand out is sensitivity and awareness. respect for others and the space they lease and share.

A successful relationship is not accomplished by some magical formula which we think just happened.

Where we are today in life is the result of convention. Convention results in standards, rules and laws, progress, a sense of direction for the advancement of the world. We are constantly evolving as people and hopefully as a result, the human race becomes better and more advanced. None of this is accidental or magical.

It goes back to the Human brain, a mass of very delicate cells , activated by oxygen gathered from the air we breathe and supported by other chemicals in the body. It is the most powerful organ in the human body, a massive memory loaded with basic intelligence at birth, but with tremendous potential. The brain is fed information by elaborate sensors such as eyes for sight. Ears for hearing. The sense of smell, taste, touch .These send information to the brain. The brain having such a great capacity stores all information endlessly.

It would be a beautiful thing if all brains were totally healthy at birth and had the same capacity. Unfortunately this is not so and even worse now we introduce pollution into the unborn body through the foods we eat, the air we breathe, and more over , the junk we smoke, inject and ingest.

Why are we talking about the baby and the brain at that early stage of life ?????

Because those sensors in the early years of the child gather all the things we do and say in the brain’s memory bank. We can call it experience.

If a baby never saw an apple or tasted an apple, that child would never know of its existence. We taught the child to taste it and associate it with the smell. Simple things like that remain embedded in the brain for ever. It seems natural to us and we take it for granted.

There is another sense which is always taken for granted and has not yet been mentioned in this article.It is that which connects the individual with the rest of the world. It is that thing within any individual which says , “Here comes Jack but I do not want to talk to him now”, That thing which says “I do not want” or “I love”. That sense is that individual itself and is constantly communication with the memory bank in the brain. It is love, it is hate, it is beauty, kindness, generosity, interaction with others.

It is every emotion which the human being can experience. It is that person and that personality.

Children traditionally acquire certain traits from adults. Most of these already exist in the adults from childhood. This is perpetuation. This is what life is about. It is you, it is me, it is all humans.

It therefore seems important that adults exhibit love and kindness. and so many other positives like respect, appreciation, balance, living in harmony, tolerance, understanding, compromise, sensitivity, awareness, compassion.

None of this comes into a personality by accident.

So, what do we have ??? Bad behavior in adults. People who cannot show appreciation or say “thank you”. People who cannot recognize the needs of others. We have rage. We have people who are so self centered that they live almost in isolation and make little or no contribution to the perpetuation of society or to the human race.

Fortunately all humans are not that way.

Bad behavior in children…………………..Some adults try to correct that.

Bad behavior in adults…………………… Not much can be done to change that.

How sad!

We are intended to create a better society and a better world. To perpetuate and make things better.We must pay special attention to the children. and attempt to instill in their memory banks the things which are positive and which make life easier and make the world a better world.The “negatives” they will sooner or later learn even without our assistance.

May be, just maybe, we would have less crime, less wars, less murders , less division of families , less misunderstandings, less negativity if the children could be supported during their early years..

Most people when asked the simple question “what is the purpose of life” either they cannot give an answer or they come up with a real disconnected answer. They simply do not know.

The history of this world as developed by mankind, has shown greed, wars, deception, division, and in general, negativity.

Yes! There has been progress and yes there has been evolution or we would not be where we are today. But there is much negativity. How painful and how slowly we progress.

The very organizations which profess to be helping can not agree and they divide within them selves. further confusing the very people they are serving. These have been responsible for almost all wars throughout history. They fight , they kill, they destroy.

As one great man once said…”Man’s inhumanity to man”

Equality Of Men and Women

Some of my observations go back to my childhood days when I first saw a clock which had a swinging pendulum. It is called “A Grandfather’s Clock.

I have ever since likened most if not all things in life to the swinging pendulum. If one stands in the way of the swinging pendulum, one will be crushed or knocked over. As people on earth we have no control over the way it swings, but we must cling to it and take the ride. Some of us are successful in making small changes in humanity but we do not change the direction in which the whole world changes. The time span of change is too great and our contribution is so minute that we just make a small mark on the direction. Some positive, some negative.

To get to the point, for a long time the pendulum had swung in the direction of MEN. Men dominated Politics, the Military, the work place, the home. Some men have been even more extreme and have assumed a position of “CONTROL”.

Now, every thing is swinging in the other direction and WOMEN are working, becoming self supporting, buying their own cars and doing what ever comes with independence.

Clearly, most things are going in the direction of the woman. But will there ever be equality ?

The problem is that in human behavior generally, we become authoritative when we achieve power. We very seldom find that balance which is the corner stone of equality. We begin to feel that what happened when the pendulum was swinging on the other side, should be the exact pattern on this side.

That is true for the mechanical pendulum.

But can that rule be true for Humans in very complex societies ? People are not machines. Women can never be the same as men, and men can never be the same as women.

A woman on her Television Program years ago to an audience of women said these words, “Men ! What do we want them for if only but to make Babies”

This extreme expression is written in history where women called Amazons had excluded men and done very extreme things to accomplish it. There was no equality.

Amazon feminism

is a branch of feminism that emphasizes female physical prowess as a means to achieve the goal of gender equality. Adherents are dedicated to the image of the female hero in fiction and in fact, as expressed in the physiques and feats of female athletes, martial artists and other powerfully built women in society, art and literature.

“The land of Amazonia, that was the land of Feminye, and in that was all woman and no man; not as some may say, that men may not live there, but because that the women will not suffer no men amongst them to be their sovereigns.”

Could we be going to that extreme, especially when science is so advanced that a man and a woman do not have to be together to continue to populate this earth. As we all know, women now go to BANKS, pickup a phial and have a child without even being near a man.

Sex scandals, money scams, and corruption come with “POWER”. Whether it is in the military, the government, the work place, in high places, in low places, in churches and religions, whether power is in the hands of men or women, POWER WILL BE ABUSED.

Equality is when the pendulum of life is at the bottom of the swing. Unfortunately, that only lasts for a brief moment in time. Time which we may never experience

Now in these modern times, power in the workplace and in the home is being transferred to women. What makes us feel that women in power will not abuse it as some men have done in the past ? Furthermore, as the PENDULUM swings the other way they may even over abuse their power as men did in the days long ago.

Do Accidents Happen

There are a few experiences in the life of us people on earth of which we have no control. Example: A lightning strike, an earthquake, the eruption of a volcano, a shower of rain.

Occurrences like these are natural and out of the control of us humans. Some people classify these as “ACTS OF NATURE” others say “ACTS OF GOD”. There is no need for us to dispute these. What we can be sure about is the fact that they are out of our control .

Recent news from West Palm Beach reported a sixteen year old girl who suffered head injuries after falling off the back of a car while “Car Surfing”. If we call this an accident, then we must conclude that it was caused and did not just happen. We must be sympathetic and feel her suffering. But she caused it and further more some one else was irresponsible.

The picture above shows a man, almost 300 pounds in weight, being very irresponsible. Had the chair collapsed, he could have suffered physical damage or even a broken back.

Of course he and his family and his attorney would have sued the establishment in which he created the accident.

Even his friends there would join us all in sympathy with his suffering.

Think of an accident on a wet road. No accident on a wet road just happened. Either the driver or drivers failed to reduce speed on the wet surface or one of the vehicles involved was not road worthy, smooth tires, or a driver was under the influence of some drug which may have affected the ability to drive safely. We can not say that the accident happened because of the “RAIN”.
That accident was caused by some one’s irresponsible behavior.

There is nothing that we experience, out side of those “Acts of God” that can be called an accident that happened. Let us think of any tragedy , analyze it and we can only conclude that it did not just happen. It was caused.

ACCIDENTS DO NOT HAPPEN, THEY ARE CAUSED

An accident at the Circus in May 2014 was serious for 9 performers and 2 spectators at a well reheasred show.

Did it just happen ???? Or was it caused ….

Respect The President

We must start by respecting the Position of “THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”.

No matter who holds that title at the time. Without that respect from the people, the whole country will deteriorate over time and the rest of the world will also take a lesser view of America.

If the President steps out of line in ways that he or she creates embarrassment for the “POST” or for the “COUNTRY”, then the President should be held accountable.

This takes us to the question……..SHOULD ANY AMERICAN CITIZEN OTHER THAN GOVERNMENT DELEGATES DISCUS THE POLICY OF AMERICA WITH OTHER WORLD LEADERS.???

We may have “FREE SPEECH LAWS” in this country but does it give us freedom and the right to say and do things which could be detrimental to the country or the Policies which the Country may be pursuing at the time ?????

SENSITIVITY AND INSENSITIVITY

We the people , RICH OR POOR should be SENSITIVE to the position and policy of the country. We should not be publishing movies , articles or statements of any kind which in any way reduce or affect Policy. Or because we are rich, should we go to other countries to discus the business of this COUNTRY. This behavior could be classified as DIVISIVE and when chaos results from these irresponsible actions, the creators and others should be held responsible.

Is it an accident that a commercial of the Leader of another country appears now on American Television disrespecting the Policies of America and the Government of America ?????? Or is it the result some irresponsible action ?????

ACCOUNTABILITY

Any Citizen of America who talks or holds discussions with heads of State of other Countries without the direction of our Government should be held accountable to the people through Congress, and should be called to testify and disclose the nature and purpose of their discussions as it pertains to Government Policy.

Further, it is unethical and disrespectful for a Leader of another Country to do or say any thing which could affect, change or control the policy of America.

The Media should also be very responsible in reporting and making commentary so that it too does not lead, control, or change the direction of the policies of the Country.

THESE ARE THE SOME OF THE REASONS WHY WE APPOINTED A GOVERNMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Not Funny

I am fascinated by “Hi Technology”. Have been for a long time.

Who would have thought that the “Soda Dispensing Machine” would have gone Hi-Tech. That new machine is out of this world. The only thing it does not do is give free hot dogs with your soda.

Do you know why they made the spout secluded under there ? Let me tell you.

It is to stop children from putting their heads under and sucking the soda direct. Yes, I saw a kid contort his self under the old style soda fountain and suck his favorite drink. He did it expertly. Mouth up against the spout, not a drop was spilt. It may have been easier to fill a cup and suck his soda through a straw. Maybe he was being creative. Maybe his parents did not teach him what is proper. Maybe his parents did not know better.

That new machine has so many buttons on the screen that it looks like a “Smart Phone”.

The men do not usually understand how to select their favorite color drink so they end up using the “back arrow” to get to the first page where the water is located.

The women usually stand there and do it expertly. I am sure that they forget that it is not a Smart Phone and that there are other people waiting to use the machine. Some of them look like if they are still driving their oversized vehicles , one hand holding the cig , the other the smart phone , texting of course while they drive..

The women are experts at what ever they do. The men are slow.

Really ??

I do not think so. While I was waiting for my order to be filled, a man hurried pass all lines, headed over to the fancy soda machine, bypassing the cashier of course, and proceeded to fill a container with his favorite color.

The container looked like the oversized ones that people steal from that store not far from here. You know the store where they steal even large screen televisions. They are lucky that they only sell burgers and soda here or he may have taken a Large Screen TV. That thief stole a large , oversize soda, covered it and hurried out to his vehicle. Other People must have seen.

I was there to get my Bacon Cheese burger and a soda from the Dollar Menu. I always pay up front. What is your name? My name is “JOE” Most can’t spell my name and even when I spell it for them, they get it wrong.

Now I get my order on a tray. Be careful the tray may be wet or is it still dirty from the last usage.

I know from past experience that some thing has to be wrong with my Burger so I unwrap it before I leave the service counter. True enough, At first, I could not find the Bacon. A little piece hidden under a piece of lettuce. The Lettuce must have survived the garbage bin in the kitchen.

So I called the Manager. She was so busy that she did not come to see what my complaint was about. She talked from a remote point and said that it should be a strip broken in half. Now I began to understand why I could not find the Bacon. Then I realized that I must have got the smaller half of the strip. Is that possible ?

They made me a new burger which had two half strips in it.

As I tried to digest this Burger, I wondered if the time is near when they will put a strip of paper in the Burger which will read “The bacon was here” I hope they do not forget to add the Lottery numbers and my fortune.

THEN I WOULD NOT HAVE TO ASK THE QUESTION……..

WHERE’S THE BACON?????

This is about the children who are not getting the attention and guidance they need to equip them as they mature. To make them better humans.

It is about the attitudes of mature people who steal and exhibit their bad behavior even as the children observe. Yes, children see, observe, and remember more than we think.

It is about the greed of the “people up there” you know, Corporate America who control even a “slice of Bacon” in order to satisfy their fat pockets.

It is about “lack of proper training” at all levels especially in the Fast Food Joints.

It is about the bad attitudes and lack of care and attention which exist in most of the services.

Lack of regard of people for people.

Not to neglect a major one, ” the bad behavior of people using the road ways” . Texting, talking on their smart phones while they drive their gas consuming, oversized vehicles, as if they think that the phone is so smart that it will prevent them from creating an accident.

Couponing. Is it Ethical

Manufacturers, Promoters, and people who sell products or even people who sell Coupons to promote Products know very well what they are doing.

The bottom line for them is “PROFIT”. They do not give merchandise for “FREE”.

The Consumer should be aware but does not know this. So we clip coupons because we think that we will get “something for nothing”. Most Coupons expire before we can use them. What a waste of time ? Most times we do not even need that Product which they promote.

Many people are not even exposed to Coupons on a regular basis. So the burden of paying for this unreal practice is on the shoulders of all the people not the few who benefit.

Couponing also leads to CRIMINAL ACTIVITY. Some people, in an effort to harvest a large collection of coupons would insert the minimum money in a newspaper vending machine and then once the door is open, they take the entire contents instead of just one Newspaper for which they paid. They now have a large collection of coupons to clip. The remnants of the paper is discarded.

Some consumers even take items they cannot use or do not want in order to to get the free deals.

Do we think that the Manufacturers give large discounts or free items ? Or are the prices inflated to cover these so called discounts ?

Do they markup the price of items to cover this inflation ?

They know very well what they do to make big profits.

MORE CONSUMERS ARE PAYING FOR THE FEW WHO USE AND ABUSE COUPONING.

WOULD WE BE BETTER OFF WITHOUT COUPONS ?

My Question still stands.

IS IT ETHICAL AND SHOULD EVERY ONE ELSE HAVE TO PAY HIGH PRICES IN ORDER TO SUPPORT OTHERS WHO USE COUPONS. SHOULD PRICES BE NORMALISED WITHOUT COUPONS SO THAT ALL CONSUMERS ENJOY REALISTIC PRICING ??????

Having Lunch

Lunch at a very nice Cafeteria. No, not in the heart of London or Paris or New York. It is a place which has nice food and Pastries and Coffee. People like it here because there is Free Internet (WIFI). The service is good and the place is clean. Locals, Snowbirds, Business People all frequent and go about their business. It is a meeting Place.

How can you not observe the behaviors of some people ?

About Ten minutes into my lunch, a man came into the area where I was sitting. Probably retired, he may have been in his upper sixties. Usually by this stage in life we hope that people have reached some level of maturity and must have acquired a higher standard of culture which allows us to behave in a proper manner while in the presence of other people. But obviously some never grow away from their child hood bad behavior which was passed on by their parents.

So he first proceeds to adjust the furniture, the property of the Establishment which he will borrow for the short period while he imbibes in whatever. Some people must adjust everything, even their own television sets which they saw the news on just last night.

Now , while still standing , he whips out a laundered handkerchief, and proceeds to blow his nose .

Well, this operation produced such a loud noise that most of the guests looked around to see where it was coming from. Blow , blow after blow. It sounded like a “Conch Shell Horn” in Key West.

He was one of those who had to make his presence known to all. As if anybody cared.

As he stood there was eye contact. The kind that would normally produce a welcome like a smile or hello or good morning. After taking a mental picture of me he turned away. Fine, who cares. Some people will extend greetings and some do not.

A few tables across there was a young lady sitting, there working on her “Laptop”

This man walked over and looked into her laptop screen and i could see that she was surprised and certainly did not know him.

She must have been a nice person because she did not close the lid of the Laptop to shut him out. She continued to chat .

Maybe , if I were a charming, young lady with a laptop he would have greeted me.

There is something about people like him and others that either attract or repel other people. It is nothing to do about “laptops”

Maybe all people have the “RIGHT” to behave however they want.

May be as a society develops, the culture dictates a certain standard of progression.

If they do not like the color of a person’s skin or the way his or her eyes are slanted, it is time that they realize that they two also look peculiar in the vision of others. With skin colors which seem peculiar and bad behavior worse than other civilized people.

Finally, a female joined him at his table. As she sat in front of the food he again whipped out his horn and blew it a couple of times. Maybe he could have gone to the “Men’s Room” to take care of his Hygiene problem. Not to mention his bad behavior.

THE MOVIES

They tell me that I should not say things like “A BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMAN” I do not understand their reasons.. But we can look at a Movie featuring a “MAD……”

What if we look at a Movie about a “PROSTITUTE”. Reality is , as far as we know, she is an actress acting as a Prostitute. Some people hate her because she has acted in a Movie as a Prostitute. Maybe they envy her because she is where she is by bringing to the public another side of reality.

It should not be about her. It should be about the content of the movie and wether it brings to us any lessons of LIFE and exposes some of the bad behaviors even of people at higher levels in life. People who, supposedly, spent many years studying to obtain many academic Degrees and hopefully a higher position in life still do not emerge as cultured, sensitive, or really useful people in our society. Usually, self-centered. Taking and not giving. There should be a degree awarded for culture. The world would have been a better place.

Time was when Movies were entertaining and to some extent, educational. Some had a real content of humor. Most today are “Slap Dash” with one thing in mind, how many millions they can pull in at the end of the first week.

The price of spending an hour or two in a movie house is almost prohibitive. Is it healthy to go to those places? The filth that is deposited and allowed to grow there is unacceptable. Of course some are clean. It seems that some people go there not to see the movie any way but just because it is cheaper than going to a “Short Time Motel”. If you feel compelled to go to see a movie, be there before the lights go down and look carefully at where you sit.

Were we not talking about a “MOVIE” ?

We saw a man with the ability to manage a successful business. Yet not a Dictator.

Not greedy and with compassion for his partners and people around him. A man with needs like all men and women.

A man with RESPECT for all people.

A man with many talents, even the ability to play the Piano in a leisurely and relaxing way.

A woman caught up in one of the world’s greatest professions only paralleled to the Corporate Greed which we are forced to live under.

She had compassion , especially for her friend and she remained loyal to her friend to the end.

She was not exposed in the early days of her life to “ETIQUETTE”. Common table manners . Which fork to use . But she was prepared to learn with some degree of “humility”.

We saw “snobbery” at so many levels, even in the Garment Store

We saw another man who was self centered, greedy, uncultured, and lacking respect for his boss. For him to be in that position in life he would have had to go through some higher education academically. Yet he was lacking in most of the essentials which are necessary for existing in a progressive and rounded society.

By the way, it was just a “MOVIE” and like many of the good ones , “THE SOUND…..”, “THE DIARY……”, “HELLO……”, It has many lessons to be taught.

More people should look at the content of what is presented on Television, Radio, and in Movies. There is a lot to be learned.

Then, may be when we go to restaurants we would not see all these bad behaviors displayed by children and adults., like putting their feet on the tables where food is eaten , or holding the forks like some kind of stabbing implement and viciously stabbing the piece of processed meat.

TAKE US BACK TO THE DAYS WHEN WE DID NOT HAVE TO MICROWAVE OUR OWN POPCORN AND BE CONFINED TO OUR HOMES.

TAKE US BACK TO THE DAYS WHEN WE COULD MAKE IT AN OCCASION AND ENJOY BEING OUT.

TAKE US BACK TO THE DAYS WHEN WE COULD SIT IN A RESTAURANT AND ENJOY A NICE DINNER. CHILDREN, BUT NOT CHILDREN RUNNING AROUND SCREAMING LIKE IF IT WERE A PLAYING FIELD.

IT WOULD ALSO BE GOOD IF THE ADULTS COULD CONTROL THE CHILDREN SO THAT THEY DO NOT CLIMB ON THEIR CHAIRS TO INVESTIGATE WHAT YOU ARE EATING. OF COURSE THEY CANNOT DO THAT WITHOUT SCREAMING IN YOUR EARS.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE STOPPED AT THE FAST FOOD DRIVE_IN, EAT WHILE DRIVING AND TEXTING AND PROCEED TO SEE A “MOVIE”
